Routine Visual Checks (Frequent)
- Look for unusual noise, heat, smell, or discolouration around panels.
- Check indicators, gauges, and alarms.
- Confirm rooms are clean, dry, and ventilated, with no dust build-up or water ingress.
Periodic Inspection (Typically Annual)
- Thermal imaging survey under normal load. See thermal imaging for switchgear.
- Operate breakers to check trip and close functions and record timing where possible.
- Check and lubricate mechanisms as the manufacturer specifies.
- Inspect auxiliary switches, coils, motors and control wiring for wear or loose terminals.
Detailed Maintenance (Longer Intervals or by Operations Count)

Keep Records
Log every reading and every replacement, since trends reveal problems that a single reading cannot. Follow the manufacturer intervals and your site standards over generic numbers.
