Start With the Breaker Nameplate
Every vacuum circuit breaker carries a nameplate with the manufacturer, type designation, serial number, and ratings. Photograph it clearly. Our guide on how to read a switchgear nameplate explains each field.
Information Worth Collecting
- Manufacturer and breaker type or model.
- Rated voltage, current, and short-circuit breaking current.
- Serial number and year of manufacture.
- The old part itself: any number, marking, or label on the coil, motor, switch, or contact you are replacing.
- Control voltage, for coils and motors (for example 24V DC, 110V DC, 220V AC).
Use the Manufacturer Documentation
The breaker manual or spare parts catalogue normally lists part numbers against each component. If you do not have it, the manufacturer or a specialist supplier can usually match a part from the nameplate details and the old component.
Confirm Before You Order
- Check physical dimensions and mounting points against the old part.
- Confirm voltage and rating match exactly.
- Ask the supplier to confirm compatibility with your specific breaker model.
